The railroad has played an integral part in the De Soto, Missouri, community since 1857. Our community is unique in that it has provided a home for the St. Louis Iron Mountain and Southern, the Missouri Pacific, and the Union Pacific railroads. Consequently, the members of the De Soto Railroad Employees’ Memorial, Inc., recognizing the importance of the railroad in the development of our community, have created a lasting monument dedicated to railroad employees—past, present and future.
This group began in 1986 when several interested citizens of De Soto met for the purpose of establishing a permanent organization that would focus attention on the beautification of De Soto. De Soto’s Green Team relies on donations from individuals and businesses. You may contribute by making a check payable to: De Soto’s Green Team – PO Box 504 De Soto, MO 63020
